Clcompany is delighted to feature the facts about the 1946’s Classic Skoda 1101.

    Flashback

75 years have passed since the Skoda company started making the 1101 “Tudor,” its first post-war model. In 1946, along with the assembly lines in Mlada Boleslav, the newly merged sites in Kvasiny and Vrchlabi also assisted in the manufacturing of the recently created all-rounder. In the years and decades that followed, the “Tudor,” which was as cozy as it was affordable and durable even in the worst circumstances, went on to become a successful model all over the world; consumers from more than 70 nations valued its high quality. The series also received numerous medals from international rallies and racing competitions. Thus, the Skoda 1101 “Tudor” signaled the beginning of a new era in the company’s history.

    The Design

During the Second World War, the “Tudor” was built privately with a focus on enhancing traffic safety. The use of strong hydraulic brakes and hydraulic shock absorbers on the front axle, which also improved comfort, were some of the methods used to achieve this. By combining the timber body with organic insulating materials and wool upholstery, there was also a discernible reduction in noise levels. The vehicle’s cutting-edge design was built on an all-around independent suspension system attached to a robust and comparatively light central tube frame.

The “Tudor” came in a number of body styles. Alongside the two-door model, which provided easier access to the back seats, a four-door saloon was added to the lineup in order to better meet the needs of customers both domestically and internationally.
